When people think of their dream kitchen, most would say that a kitchen island is right at the top of the list. Not only are kitchen islands incredibly useful for cooking and preparing food, but they are also multi-functional as storage space, space to eat your meals and generally are just aesthetically pleasing. Not every kitchen can afford the space an island needs but if you do have the space available, why not consider it?
They look great
It doesn’t need saying that a kitchen island looks great, whether you go for granite, quartz or anything in-between they are a great feature. You may fancy an open island or even want to create your own centrepiece, whatever your style, it's not hard to personalise this feature to suit your style.
They're practical
Kitchen islands are one of the most useful features you can add to your kitchen from whichever angle you look at it! You can add drawers, shelves, cabinets and any other storage you can think of to keep your kitchen organised. They can also be adapted to have integrated appliances such as sinks, dishwashers, hobs or even distilled water taps - be as creative as you want!
They're social
Although you wouldn’t think it, islands are a great way to make a large kitchen feel much more inviting and you’ll notice this by how people navigate within a space that has an island. You are much more likely to sit on a barstool to eat breakfast and converse with family whilst they cook. Plus, you’ll notice guests will be drawn to it as it's a less formal and more inclusive seating area.Whatever space you are working with, a kitchen island is always a great addition to your home. It may be a classic, middle of the room worktop or even a smaller worktop against a wall to give that island vibe, but either way it is a great way to change up your home décor.
